Don't be like everyone else and forget to clean this area

RSS

A typical cleaning routine consists of spending hours degreasing the kitchen, disinfecting the bathroom, vacuuming the carpets, and wiping down all the hard surfaces in your home. We do this to make our home healthier, safer and cleaner.  Although these are all important tasks that need to be completed, the couch is a commonly forgotten place that definitely needs more attention.

When it comes to cleaning your furniture upholstery, life would be so much easier if we had the ability to throw the entire couch into the washer and dryer! Unfortunately, this is impossible, even if you have machine washable cushion covers you still have to figure out a way to clean the rest of the couch. It is easy to overlook what might lie on and under the surface of your beloved lounge area, especially after long weeks of snacking on the couch and inclining those stinky feet after several active days.  When you’re exhausted and looking to wind down, you really shouldn’t be laying in all the dust, dead skin cells, pollen, bacteria, and chemicals that have accumulated over time.

Microfiber ribbed bar mop towels

Before you begin to clean your couch, grab a towel like the Nouvelle Legende ribbed bar mop towel. Brush off the entire couch to break up any dried spots and remove any bits that have made homes of the nooks and crannies.  The ribbed bar mop towel is a great towel to use because it is pure white and durable; you want to stay away from colored towels to refrain from bleeding onto your tidy couch.  If your couch is in need of a more heavy duty wipe, don’t hesitate to use a stiff brush or sponge.  After you’ve removed all of the surface debris, sprinkle the entire couch with a light layer of baking soda and let sit for 20-60 minutes. Then vacuum off the baking soda, you can even use a bristle brush nozzle for extra scrubbing assistance.

For those tough to remove stains, you’ll need these ingredients:

  • 1 teaspoon dish washing liquid
  • 1 teaspoon white vinegar
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda

Combine all the ingredients together in a small bowl or spray bottle. Take your ribbed bar mop towel and dip it into the solution, then lightly blot and scrub stains. Before you start attacking those large stains, test the solution on a hidden small area of fabric to ensure there is no discoloration. If you have an overly stained and discolored couch, you can use the solution to wipe down entire couch. Not only will your couch smell amazing, it will look as though you spent hundreds of dollars to have it professionally cleaned.
